On April 19th 2022, a workshop was organised in the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair project (OwnEU) at the Institute of European Studies. The main topic of the lecture was EU assistance in the Western Balkans, with a particular focus on the Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA3). Our guest lecturer for the event was Dr. Aleksandar Andrija Pejović, former Chief Negotiator of Montenegro (2011-2018) and former National Coordinator for IPA (2012-2018).
After a first introductory part from the Jean Monnet chair of the project on main aspects of EU assistance in the region, from a historical perspective, the presentation of Dr. Pejović was focused on IPA3, the new programme for the upcoming years. He explained in detail main elements of IPA3 and changes with previous instruments. He also explained expected impact of the assistance in the Western Balkans. The third part of the workshop was dedicated to discussions and questions from the audience, which covered a wide range of topics. Absorption capacities of Western Balkan countries and other challenges were at the centre of the conversation with the guest lecturer. In addition to the information given in this session, participants were also provided with full presentations and materials.
